Here are what I am now calling the “Kethyras Stories” or, perhaps, “Kethyras Chroncles”? I’ll figure it out one way or the other eventually.
This set of stories started in what I can only describe as an “odd” place, much of which I already described in this post.
Regardless of where it initially originated, it has turned into a set of stories which center around two main characters: Nonna Torsdottir, half-elf barbarian, and Helene Fabry, human elemental mage. Aside from their individual introductory stories (linked right there), my intent is most, if not all of their stories will take place in Kethyras, City of the Ascendant Stars.
Yes, this is a world and setting I am in the process of fabricating from “whole-cloth”, as they say.
These two are, at best, an “Odd Couple” trope-like pairing. However, much like Fritz Leiber’s Fafhrd and the Gray Mouser pair, or the more recent Kemp pair of Egil and Nix, these two just … work. They complement each other in (hopefully) surprising ways and will (presuming I can come up with sufficient ideas) have many stories told about them.
While the “Kethyras” category contains all of the material (including thoughts while I write, etc.), here are the specific stories. The first two stories are the initial introductions for our two heroines, and then the third story brings them together for their first meeting.
